Rockwell Automation Networks and Communication
NetLinx Open Architecture is Rockwell Automation's open networking technology that speak a common language and share a universal set of communication services.
ControlNet Network is a real-time control network. It provides high-speed transport of both time-critical I/O and interlocking data and messaging data. ControlNet ensures dependable, synchronized, and coordinated real-time performance.
DeviceNet Network is a simple, open networking option that is a cost-effective solution for low-level industrial device networking.
EtherNet/IP Network layers the Common Industrial Protocol over the standard protocols TCP/IP and UDP. EtherNet/IP uses TCP/IP for general messaging/information exchange services and UDP/IP for I/O messaging services for control applications. EtherNet/IP uses off-the-shelf Ethernet components.
Data Highway Plus Network, DH+, provides simple communication between PLCs, SLCs and PCs. DH+ uses PC Interfaces such as the 1784 line of cards for Ethernet communitcate with PLCs.
DH-485 Network allows for connection up to 32 devices, including SLC 500 and MicroLogix 1000 controllers, color graphics systems, and personal computers. The DH-485 link together with auxiliary RS-232-C (DF1 protocol) links make up the DH-485 network.
Universal Remote I/O Link connects the PLC and SLC processors to remote I/O and intelligent devices such as operator interfaces, ac and dc drive systems, intelligent sensing products, and Computer Numerical Controllers (CNCs).
